It doesn't all revolve around romance over in Chatsworth, there’s also history, opulence and gravity-fed fountain which spurts water 90 metres in the air.
The house itself has cultural treats round every corner and the rich colours and designs means that this trip could easily take all day, if you fancied it.
Chatsworth has a diverse art collection, which is ever expanding. Encompassing everything from old drawings to contemporary ceramics; artefacts from Ancient Egypt to cutting edge modern sculpture. The juxtaposition of old and new adds a fresh feel to this grand building
Other than the mind-blowing water fountain outside the front of the house, there’s also 105 acre Chatsworth Garden including a 300 year old Cascade and a trough waterfall in the rockery- which is as impressive as it sounds.
Surrounding Chatwsorth house and gardens, is the 1000 acre park on the banks of the river Derwent, designed in the 1760s. The park is home to herds of red and fallow deer, cattle, sheep and other native wildlife; Something to behold if you manage to catch sight of them!
Close to the house lies another Derbyshire gem, the Chatsworth Estate Farm Shop. Named Britain's best farm shop in 2009 and 2011, this Farm shop offers quality produce fresh from the estate, tenant farms, Derbyshire suppliers and small food producers. Here you can try the local meat, home baked cakes and bread and a wide selection of British cheeses.
