Since 1974, Sprayway has been making clothing to keep you warm, dry and comfortable. The Sprayway story began in Chorlton, Manchester. Brought to life by two outdoor enthusiasts, the brand was born out of necessity, a desire for the outdoors and as a direct response to the Manchester climate surrounding them.
Ordinary beginnings often give rise to revolutionaries. 1974 and in a garage in Chorlton, Manchester two competitive dinghy sailing enthusiasts begin making performance clothing to fill a void in the climbing market.
John Hunt and Simon Wright were keen mountaineers who recognised that if they wanted to climb in dependable gear then they would have to craft their own. Little did they know that forty years later their bold enterprise would become one of Britain’s leading outdoor clothing companies - Sprayway.
Sprayway is an iconic British brand synonymous with quality waterproof outerwear and with Manchester’s somewhat damp climate you can see why. Now in its 42nd year the brand continues to make gear for the great outdoors. Be in up on Kinder Scout or on the streets of Buxton. When visiting the Peak District be sure to kit yourself out in Sprayway.
