About Wet and Wild Watersports at Carsington

Dip your toe in the water and try something new with Carsington Sports and Leisure – stand up paddle boards are the latest craze to hit the beaches, so get a head start and give it a go on a taster session or get afloat and paddle around the bay area in a kayak or canoe. The 90 minute taster sessions are the perfect introduction to the watersports on offer at Carsington, all equipment is provided, all you need to bring is your swimwear, towel and shoes that you don’t mind getting wet!

When you’re finished out on the water there’s a visitor centre at the heart of the site surrounded by great spots to relax and enjoy the scenery over a picnic, or let the children burn off any surplus energy on the brand new play area. The Mainsail restaurant not only offers a wide range of meals, drinks and snacks but stunning views across the water – so chill out and enjoy.

If you fancy a stroll, the paths around Carsington are well maintained and there are three circular walks all beginning from the visitor centre, from a mile, three miles or the eight mile more challenging route taking you all the way around the reservoir, with the option of a detour through the pretty villages of Carsington and Hopton along the way. If you’d prefer to do the perimeter route around the water’s edge on a bike then pick one up from the cycle hire centre.
